2013 Ford Transit Custom Specs and Price

2013 Ford Transit Custom
2013 Ford Transit Custom Specs and Price. The all-new Ford Transit Custom takes the Transit family in a new design direction with a stylish and contemporary appearance that extends its appeal to a new generation of one-tonne van customers.

With its advanced, streamlined design, the new vehicle embodies the same dynamic character as Ford's kinetic design passenger cars, but without compromising its exceptional load-carrying ability that is a trademark of the Transit brand.
2013 Ford Transit Custom
"The new Transit Custom looks like no Transit before, with a bold new design which has a distinctively modern and sporty feel," said Paul Campbell, Commercial Vehicle Chief Designer, Ford of Europe. "Customers in this segment told us they want a vehicle that they are proud to have on their driveway, and we have given them exactly that."

Dramatic new appearance

The all-new Ford Transit Custom immediately announces its arrival with a dramatic new exterior which, for the first time on an all-new commercial vehicle, shares design cues with Ford's latest family of kinetic design cars.
2013 Ford Transit Custom
"One look at the bold trapezoidal lower grille, and the large swept-back headlamps that flow into the muscular rising shoulder line tells you that this is a very new kind of Transit. The vehicle's sportier stance and more dynamic character make a powerful new impact.

"By giving the front end a more curved, 3D appearance in plan view, and by subtly increasing the 'tumblehome' of the upper body sides, we have created a design which is visually much more compact and stylish, but which retains superb space and practicality," Campbell added. The lower front fascia now includes the de rigueur LED running lights, while imitation skidplates front and rear give the GLK a more traditional SUV look.

2013 Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class

Even more substantial are the changes to interior, which trades boxy, 1980s-inspired styling for a much more elegant design. The dashboard is now characterized by a wide swath of wood with inset circular vents, the steering wheel is a new three-spoke unit and the buttons on the center console have been rearranged in a more ergonomic fashion. Under the hood, the GLK now features Mercedes’ direct-injection 3.5-liter V6 with 302 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. This motor uses boasts an ECO stop/start system for improved fuel economy, though official EPA figures have yet to be released. Rear-wheel-drive comes standard, while 4MATIC all-wheel-drive is available as an option. The sole transmission is a seven-speed automatic.

Efficiency-minded buyers should wait until early 2013, when Mercedes will offer the GLK with a 2.1-liter turbodiesel four-cylinder engine that is rated at 204 horsepower and 368 lb-ft of twist. Mercedes promises highway mileage “in the high 30s” with this mill.

Between 50 and 112 mph, the system identifies the erratic steering corrections drivers make as they begin to get drowsy and triggers an audible warning and a "Time for a Rest?" message with a coffee cup icon in the instrument cluster.

Optional safety equipment includes the Lane Keeping Assist system, which alerts the driver by simulating a rumble strip vibration in the steering wheel if the car drifts from its lane without the turn signals on. Part of the Lane Tracking Package, it operates at speeds above 37 mph via a system that recognizes lane markings, thanks to a small camera in the windshield and a computer that analyzes the video images.

The Lane Tracking Package also includes Blind Spot Assist, which monitors both blind spots behind and to the side of the vehicle. Whenever a turn signal is activated with a vehicle in the blind spot, the driver gets visual and audible warnings.

The 2011 Toyota Highlander is the best midsize SUV for you if you want a seven-passenger crossover that cleverly blends genres. (2011 Toyota Highlander Hybrid Released)
2011 Toyota Highlander Hybrid
2011 Toyota Highlander Hybrid
The 2011 Toyota Highlander has revised styling and expanded standard equipment. The 2011 Highlander Hybrid has more horsepower yet better fuel economy. And the handling-tuned Sport model is history. All this adds up to a midcycle freshening for a vehicle last fully redesigned in model-year 2008. The 2011 Highlander’s basic form doesn’t change; this Toyota remains a carefully calculated compromise between a minivan and an SUV. Styling is more masculine than any minivan’s, and although it has three versatile seating rows, Highlander lacks a minivan’s easy sliding-side-door access and low step-in height. It doesn’t boast the brawny bearing or off-road prowess of a true SUV, yet it offers all-wheel drive and elevates your eyes level above traffic. And the 2011 Toyota Highlander Hybrid is the only gas-electric seven-seat crossover in the U.S.

2010 Acura RDX

2010 Acura RDX

A smart all-wheel-drive system makes the 2010 Acura RDX one of the sportiest small SUVs we've driven. Traffic, weather, and Zagat ratings are nice additions to the navigation system, and the excellent-sounding ELS audio system includes iPod integration. The engine delivers poor fuel economy and uneven acceleration. A nice-handling little SUV with useful cabin tech features, the 2010 Acura RDX is plagued by an inefficient power train.

2011 Porsche Boxster Spyder

2011 Porsche Boxster Spyder
2011 Porsche Boxster Spyder
2011 Porsche Boxster Spyder. Porsche’s latest Boxster adds lightness and hotness in equal measure. We’ve long had big-time love for Porsche’s delicious Boxster, a car that—like its vaunted older brother, the mighty 911—seems only to get better every year. And so we celebrate Porsche’s addition of a third, range-topping model to the Boxster family: the 2011 Porsche Boxster Spyder.

2011 Porsche Boxster Spyder
2011 Porsche Boxster Spyder

Perhaps the sexiest Boxster ever, the Spyder’s chief alterations include a new rear spoiler and a single-piece tonneau cover with fairings that extend rearward from the seats. The Spyder also does away with the standard Boxster’s rounded softtop in favor of a lighter, bikini-style fabric top that stretches back like a tent part way over the rear fenders. Porsche attributes further weight loss for the Spyder model to its aluminum door skins and pullstrap-outfitted interior door panels from the 911 GT3 RS. There are also lightweight racing seats and a hoodless instrument cluster like the one found in the Boxster RS60 Spyder limited edition from 2008. According to Porsche, the overall weight savings compared with the Boxster S stands at 176 pounds; the last Boxster S convertible we weighed, an example with the PDK dual-clutch gearbox, came in at 3220 pounds. We don’t know, though, exactly which Boxster S and Spyder configurations Porsche is using to form the basis of its weight comparison.

Mechanically, the Spyder gets the Cayman S’s direct-injected, 3.4-liter flat-six engine with 320 hp, 10 more than a normal Boxster S. The power is made all the more usable with a standard limited-slip differential. The Spyder also gets its own 10-spoke wheel design and rides on a suspension that is lowered by a 0.8 inch. Porsche claims that when equipped with the PDK transmission and Sports Chrono package, the car hits 60 mph in 4.6 seconds on its way to a top-down top speed of 166 mph.

This hottest Boxster—which will be a regular series-production model, and not limited—goes on sale in February of 2010 as a 2011 model at a price of $61,200.
